HI Aruna, This is a very good and Simple Project. Exspecially in Java. First You need the Knowledge About Socket Programming. The Multi-Threaded Technology can be used for multi user Chatting . But That is a bad mathod. Because as the number of Client Increases the thread also increases ..it overload the Server. So you can use asyncronus Thread Method. That is only one Server Process handling all the client by time division. Sockets are two types. Server socket and Client Socket. First you need to make a better Study about these Socket.
